Roofing in Indian Harbour Beach, FL

Indian Harbour Beach was founded in June 1955 by W. Lansing Gleason, John Neafie, and Louis Henry to house the people the space program was hiring faster than Brevard could build for, and it had close to 5,000 residents within a decade. It became a city in 1963. The housing is 1960s and 70s concrete block, single-story, on the strip between A1A and the Banana River, with a band of condominiums on the oceanfront and a scattering of teardown rebuilds. Most original roofs have been replaced twice, and metal is now the common covering on the streets nearest the ocean.

Salt reaches every roof in town. The lagoon side gets it as well as the ocean side, and galvanized nails, flashing, and drip edge fail here in a fraction of their inland life. Irma in September 2017 and Nicole in November 2022 both worked the beachside, and the summer sea-breeze storms lift shingle edges on the east-facing slopes every year.

This site connects Indian Harbour Beach homeowners with an independent local roofing contractor by phone. It does not perform the work.

Indian Harbour Beach roofing, by the kind of house

A 1970s block home with rust streaks on the fascia is a roof repair that should specify aluminum trim and stainless or coated fasteners. The same home at the end of its shingle life is a metal roofing job with coastal-grade panels. A condominium board with a flat or low-slope roof after a storm starts with a roof inspection it can put in front of the association.

Where to call in Indian Harbour Beach

Indian Harbour Beach permits its own re-roofs through the city building department. The city's 27-acre Gleason Park, named for the founder, is the center of town, and the City of Indian Harbour Beach site carries the permit forms and the storm notices for the beachside.
