Indialantic is the beach town at the east end of the Melbourne Causeway. Ernest Kouwen-Hoven platted it in 1916, built the first causeway to sell the lots, and the town grew through the 1920s boom and incorporated in 1952. It is small, about a mile of barrier island between the ocean and the Indian River, and the housing shows every era: 1920s and 30s houses on the old grid near James H. Nance Park, 1950s and 60s block ranches on the interior streets, oceanfront condominiums from the 1970s and 80s, and rebuilds since 2000.
